| Welcome
to the
South
Auckland Spiritualist Church
Website
Our
aim:
To encourage
more people to be involved with the South Auckland Spiritualist
Church family and spiritualism in general.
Our objectives:
- To promote a meeting place
to discuss and discover the spiritual aspect of life.
- To promote easy access
for people to participate in spiritual activities.
- To emphasize a caring,
sharing environment for comfort and upliftment regardless
of age, colour, creed, race and general religious beliefs.
- To increase awareness
of spiritualism and its philosophy.
- To increase awareness
of spiritual healing and its associated benefits.
- To promote participation
in classes of learning for spiritual growth and understanding.
- To teach the seven principles
to allow individual responsibility and empowerment.
- To promote the church
for services such as funerals, weddings and namings.
Our
Background:
The church has
been operating since the 1960's with services being taken in
various houses, halls and lodges and schools. While mainly based
in Otahuhu, there was a time at East Tamaki. The present premises
in Papatoetoe were purchased in 1996 with the monies raised
by all members up till this time.
Fund raising has been ongoing to help pay the mortgage. A chairlift
was installed to enable disabled people to join with us and
receive healing.
The first Minister
for South Auckland was Noel Smith who served the church for
10 years until his passing into spirit in 1993. Val Game became
Minister in July 1993 and continues her dedicated service.
The church has
always aspired to high ideals. This led South Auckland to become
an associate of the Spiritualist Church of New Zealand in 2000.
